Aluminium Cladding Accessories — Built for the Outdoors. Engineered for a Perfect Finish.

Aluminium cladding is one of the most durable, weather-resistant, and architecturally striking exterior finishes available. But the panels alone are only half the job. The accessories are what protect your investment from the elements, seal every corner and edge against moisture and pests, and give your installation that sharp, professional result that looks nothing like a DIY project.

Whether you're cladding a house facade in Melbourne's western suburbs, a commercial building in Geelong, or an outdoor entertainment area anywhere across Victoria — this is the range that completes the job properly.

What's in Our Aluminium Cladding Accessories Range

Corner Trims — Internal & External The most visible accessory on any cladding installation. External corner trims wrap around the outside corners of your building, protecting the most exposed and impact-prone edges while delivering clean, architectural lines. Internal corner trims finish the inside angles neatly where two walls meet. Available in finishes colour-matched to our aluminium cladding range so your corners look deliberate, not like an afterthought.

Starter Strips / Starter Capping Fixed at the very base of your cladding installation before a single panel goes up. The starter strip creates a perfectly level, straight foundation for your first row of boards — ensuring every subsequent row stays aligned, plumb, and consistent from ground to roofline. Skipping this step is the most common cause of a cladding installation that looks slightly off even when you can't put your finger on why.

Fixing Clips (Z-Clips & Hidden Fixing Clips) Specialised fasteners that secure aluminium panels to the substructure without any visible screws on the face of the cladding. Z-clips are interlocking and Z-shaped, slotting between adjacent panels for maximum strength and alignment. Hidden fixing clips attach panels from behind, delivering a completely clean, screw-free surface. Both types allow for the natural thermal expansion and contraction that aluminium undergoes across Victoria's temperature range — preventing buckling, warping, and stress fractures over time.

Battens The subframe that everything else hangs off. Battens are fixed to your wall first, creating a level framework for the cladding and — critically — a ventilated cavity between the back of the cladding and the wall substrate. This ventilation gap is essential: it allows moisture to escape, prevents condensation from building up behind the panels, and dramatically extends the life of both the cladding and the wall structure behind it. For aluminium cladding, composite or treated battens are recommended for outdoor applications.

Closure Trims & End Caps Used wherever a panel run terminates — at door frames, window reveals, roof eaves, or the edge of a feature wall. Closure trims seal the open ends of aluminium cladding profiles, preventing water, insects, and debris from entering the hollow sections of the panel. Without them, wind-driven rain tracks inside the panel and sits against the wall behind — causing the exact kind of damage your cladding was supposed to prevent.

Coloured Screws & Stainless Steel Fasteners When face-fixing is required, standard silver screws stand out against your cladding and look unfinished. Our colour-matched screws are available in the same finishes as our aluminium cladding range, so any visible fixings blend into the surface rather than drawing the eye. Stainless steel options are available for coastal and high-humidity environments where standard steel fasteners corrode.

Why Aluminium Cladding Specifically Needs the Right Accessories

Aluminium is a metal. That means it expands and contracts significantly with temperature changes — a common challenge in Victoria where summer and winter temperatures can vary by 30°C or more. Accessories designed for aluminium cladding account for this movement. Generic trims or clips that don't allow for thermal expansion can cause panels to buckle, pull away from fixings, or crack at joints over time.

Our accessories are engineered specifically for metal cladding systems. They are:

  • Corrosion-resistant — suitable for coastal, industrial, and high-humidity environments
  • UV-stable — won't fade, chalk, or become brittle in Australian sun
  • Thermally accommodating — designed to allow the natural expansion and contraction of aluminium
  • Powder-coated or baked enamel finished — matching the durability of the panels themselves

Compatible With Our Full Aluminium Cladding Range

Installation Overview — What Order the Accessories Go In

Understanding the sequence of installation helps you order everything you need before work begins:

  1. Mark and fix battens to the wall at 400–600mm centres, creating your ventilated subframe
  2. Fix the starter strip to the base of the installation area — level this carefully as it sets the alignment for everything above
  3. Clip or screw panels to the battens using fixing clips, working from the bottom up
  4. Fix corner trims to all internal and external corners as you go, or pre-fit before panels reach the corner
  5. Fit closure trims and end caps at all termination points — door frames, window reveals, rooflines, and wall ends
  6. Apply colour-matched sealant to any penetrations or joins exposed to weather

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need different accessories for aluminium cladding compared to WPC cladding? A: Yes. Aluminium cladding requires accessories that account for metal's thermal expansion and are rated for continuous outdoor exposure and corrosion resistance. Our aluminium cladding accessories are specifically engineered for metal cladding systems — they are not interchangeable with accessories designed for WPC or timber cladding.

Q: How many fixing clips do I need per panel? A: As a general guide, clips are spaced every 400–600mm along each batten fixing line. The exact quantity depends on your panel dimensions and the number of batten rows. Call our team with your wall dimensions and we'll calculate the quantity for you.

Q: Can I use these accessories for coastal installations near the ocean? A: Yes — we recommend our stainless steel fasteners and powder-coated aluminium trims for coastal environments. Salt air accelerates corrosion on standard steel fixings. Our team can advise on the best specification for your location.

Q: Are corner trims available in custom colours? A: Our standard range covers the most popular aluminium cladding finishes including black, charcoal grey, and natural wood tones. For custom colour matching on large commercial projects, contact us directly to discuss options.

Q: Do I need battens on a flat, even wall? A: Battens are strongly recommended for all aluminium cladding installations regardless of wall flatness. They create the ventilated cavity behind the panels that prevents moisture build-up, and provide secure fixing points that are correctly spaced for the panel system. On masonry walls (brick or concrete), battens are essential.

Q: Can I install aluminium cladding and accessories myself, or do I need a builder? A: Aluminium cladding is suitable for experienced DIYers and builders alike. The accessories are designed to be straightforward to cut, fix, and fit with standard tools. If you're new to cladding installation, we recommend watching our installation guides on the Clads Australia YouTube channel and calling our team before you begin.

Q: What is the difference between Z-clips and hidden fixing clips? A: Z-clips interlock between panels and fix to the batten, providing strong support and panel alignment — they are the standard choice for most aluminium cladding installations. Hidden fixing clips attach from behind the panel face, leaving no visible fixings whatsoever on the front surface. Hidden clips are preferred for architectural or feature wall applications where a completely clean face is required.

Q: Is there a minimum order quantity for accessories? A: No minimum order. You can order exactly what your project requires. Clips and screws are available individually or in packs — our team can advise on the most cost-effective pack size for your project volume
